The Doom Eternal ps4 theme is pretty cool

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 08:16 PM PDT

A theory I have is that the Crucible acts like a fusion of the Soul Cube from Doom 3 and the Chainsaw from Doom 2016, but instead of gas cans, you need souls, and you instant kill anything while getting tons of drops back, but it's just a little theory, tell me what you guys might think it'll do.

Does anyone else want the Icon of Sin to play a bigger role in the Doom franchise?

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 09:42 PM PDT

It just seems like the closest thing Doom has to an iconic villain rn. They're probably not gonna have it be in Doom Eternal, since there's gonna be the Heavens and the Titans and the Marauders and the Samuel Haydens, but I still think it would've been a good choice. It's striking and recognizable, but still has tons of room for creative freedom because we don't know what its body looks like. Id could basically have it do anything and it would be a perfect, long-term villain for the series.

Appreciating details of the slayer as a tortured hero

    Posted: 20 Oct 2019 04:10 PM PDT

The character depth is amazing and it's so skillfully conveyed it didn't need words. Namely being something of a tortured anti-hero similar to Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. The rabbit which appears in a lot of the artwork humanizes him by touching on something lost. Something he loved. Because without it, his direct actions are going to just be means to an end. And while ambition is attractive it might also be psychopathy. But the game is about vices and being unbreakable, incorruptable, unielding. Social standards of resilience when faced with adversity and sacrifice of personal gain. And it's directly contrasted with Olivia Pierce.

It goes further by defining how the slayer's blind fervor led him into a trap. He's not perfect. He ended up being trapped for eons. This led to character development a jolt seems unlikely to prevent the almost mythical piece of equipment that is the slayer's armour to stop him from Killing Hayden. But he didn't.

This is mostly a thank you to the devs and the storywriters and whoever is involved for giving us this character and role model. That the development has remained largely uninfluenced by bethesda drama and that they're putting in the work to create a modern classic. Even if no awards are won and the game overshadowed, your efforts to create something beneficial to us on a personal level is appreciated. To unfalteringly pursuing what's right.

Is it me or is Doom 2016 just a tiny bit influenced by Brutal Doom?
