So recently there has been a lot of talk about memes and how we deal with them. I'm going to try and hopefully clear the air about the whole situation.

This is a bit long so I'll add a TL:DR at the bottom

As we grow closer to the release of Doom Eternal and with the recent release of new Doom Eternal content we've seen a huge spike in new subscribers (Daily subscribers has doubled since beginning of the new year) and with that an increase in new posts.

The majority of posts recently have been videos and discussions around the new gameplay which has been released, we've also seen an increase in fan art and memes. Now at the moment memes are in a bit of a grey area, some do get allowed and some don't but we feel the way in which we decide what memes gets removed is very inconsistent and so to address this we've been working on something in the background which should help us stay consistent with our removals.

Over the last couple of weeks we've received a lot of feedback and it's obvious a lot of people want memes and we kinda do too but we also don't want memes to just be a generic template with text added to it that makes it slightly Doom related. We're also not saying to have to make your own memes as that would be very unreasonable since not everyone is an artist.

So to help clear the air I'd like to introduce everyone to the Meme Guidelines we've been working on which you can view here.

This is a work in progress and so we'd like to get all the feedback we can So we created a Google Form for people to fill out to easily help us gather feedback

After 2 Weeks all feedback will be collected and posted in it's own thread for the sake of transparency

I'd like to end this with an apology. Sorry we let this get so out of hand to the point we had to get called out publicly. As moderators we owe a great deal to the communities in which we help run and it's very easy to become complacent which can have a negative affect on the community as a whole. Without you guys this place wouldn't exist and we're so grateful that ya'll stick around to talk about a kickass video game franchise that means so much to us all.

The community is growing very quickly and it's obvious we're messing up when it comes to memes and their removal so we're working on something to help us be more consistent with removals and show y'all what kind of effort we'd like to see. We made a meme guide (work in progress) and a survey to help gather feedback
