    After a lake of blood, a sea of sweat, an OCEAN of tears & sentinel armor on the Icon of Sin, I’ve finally beaten the main campaign on (regular) Nightmare. If I try seriously to beat UN I might just have to take up stress drinking, and I’ve never touched alcohol in all my 27 & 1/2 years!

    Dean Takahashi acknowledged and joked about how he was bad at the game in his review and despite not playing well and completing the game on a lower difficulty, he still finished the game, called it "one of the best first person shooters ever" and gave it 90/100 score

    That vice article specifically about how the marauder supposedly sucks (Not by Dean Takahashi, dont remember the author) was cringey, but I dont think Dean deserves the hate he got/gets just for being bad at a video game. If doom eternal can provide someone of his skill level a great experience on a lower difficulty that's a good thing, as long as the thrill and challenge of nightmare is preserved for us "blackbelts". I wouldn't read Dean's reviews for in-depth analysis of combat mechanics, but a review like his could be valuable for some potential buyers to show them that they might still enjoy the game even if they aren't very good at it. they might think Doom Eternal is ONLY for elite FPS masters, as it has kind of a reputation as a difficult, skill based game. Which it is on the higher difficulties, but with multiple difficulties and things like sentinel armor its only as hard as you want it to be. People may not know this and be intimidated by the game's reputation.

    But here's this guy who CLEARLY sucks at it saying (paraphrasing here) "hey, this game is pretty hard, and I'm bad at it and FPS games in general lol, but it had a difficulty option I was able to get through and I had a lot of fun doing so! I think this is a great game even if I'm not very good at it. If you like to challenge yourself and are more experienced with the genre you'll probably enjoy it even more. Either way I recommend it" Why should we be mad at a guy like that?

    The guy who wrote "heres why Doom Eternals Marauder Sucks So Bad" was annoying as fuck largely because he arrogantly postured like he was a master at the game while demonstrating a lack of understanding through his complaints. Dean just isn't good at the game, but never pretended to be, and never blamed the game for it.

    Overall the whole "Lmao game journalists" thing is played out and painfully unfunny. Doom Eternal received glowing reviews from the majority of outlets/journalists, even if the marauder, resource management etc. got some unfair criticisms. There isn't some sort of conspiracy against the game. Most people have enemies they hate or aspects they struggle with in games they love, especially if they haven't mastered those games yet. People also play games for different reasons, and not everyone has the time or desire to master every aspect of a game. Personally I want to achieve full UN completion (1/4 done so far, SGN ML only, TAG 2 will be done soon), and I try to learn as much about the game and get as good as I can at it because I have fun doing so. but the opinions of people like me aren't the only ones that matter.
